How to write that perfect Press Release

Here are ten useful pointers for those writing a press release for the first time:

> Type the release on your own letterhead.
> Begin with a short, fun or interesting headline.
> Avoid long sentences, and keep to one topic or story throughout the release.
> The best written releases tell the story in the first two paragraphs.
> Use any additional paragraphs purely to fill out the detail.
> Leave an extra linespace between paragraphs.
> If you run to a second page, put “More follows” at the end of the first page.
> At the end of the release write “Ends”.
> Always put the date at the bottom of the release.
> Always add a contact name and telephone number at the bottom of the release.
